Questions before you book
Do I need a referral?
No. You can contact Kelsall Surgical Centre directly to arrange a private appointment. We also welcome referrals from optometrists, GPs and other healthcare professionals.
Will I see a consultant ophthalmologist?
Your assessment and treatment are carried out by consultant ophthalmologists. For eyelid surgery, you will see a consultant with the relevant oculoplastic expertise.
How much is a consultation?
A new consultation costs £220, including an eye examination and relevant assessment. OCT imaging is included where appropriate. Treatment fees are separate unless a combined assessment-and-treatment price is stated.
Can I have treatment at the same visit?
For some procedures, including YAG capsulotomy and removal of selected eyelid cysts or lesions, this may be possible. It depends on the diagnosis, clinical suitability and appointment availability. Request this option when booking.
Do you accept private medical insurance?
We accept patients with Bupa, AXA and WPA insurance. Cover depends on your policy, consultant and treatment. Check with your insurer and obtain any required authorisation before attending. You remain responsible for excesses and charges not covered.
Where is the clinic and is there parking?
Kelsall Surgical Centre is on Church Street, Kelsall, Cheshire, CW6 0QG, near Chester and Tarporley. Parking is available next to the clinic. All consultations and procedures take place at this location.
Can I travel from North Wales, Liverpool or Wirral?
Yes. We welcome patients from those areas and across Cheshire and Greater Manchester. Speak to our team before booking if you are travelling some distance, as treatment and follow-up may need separate visits.
How quickly can I be seen?
Appointments are usually available within days, but availability varies by consultant and appointment type. Contact our team or check online availability for the earliest suitable appointment.
What if I have a sudden or severe eye problem?
Do not wait for an email reply or a routine appointment if you develop sudden loss of vision, severe eye pain or rapidly worsening symptoms. Seek urgent medical advice through an urgent eye service or NHS 111; use emergency services if needed.
